I'm Katie from Tied Ribbon & I am so excited Shatzi is letting me tell you about how blogging & a few things I've learned along the way.
Technically I've had my blog for 3 years, but consistent, quality posts were not always happening, until last year when I made a conscious effort to put time & focus into my little blog. I've had some amazing opportunities come my way as a result of it & learned more about myself as a blogger, and I'd like to touch on just a few blogging-related topics.
Your blog depicts who you are, so it's important to remember that when you do sponsored posts, write religion/political posts & who you take on as sponsors.
Don't lose yourself in trying to satisfy someone else or make a ton of money. You'll stay happiest if you post about things that make you proud. Don't sacrifice the integrity of your blog you've worked hard to build.
We each have our own opinions and views and the internet allows us to express those so freely- which is incredible! But keep in mind, that putting ourselves out there in this blogging world doesn't mean we need to tear others down. It's okay not to like someone else's ideas- but keep in mind that it took some courage for them to put them out there, and the last thing they need is for us to tell them their tissue pom-poms weren't poofy enough! If you don't have anything nice to say, don't write a mean comment about it.
Having my own craft blog has given me the chance to flex my "creative muscle" to come up with original ideas to share with my readers. Often I would make something, without documenting it because I wasn't sure if it would turn out or if anyone else would care about it. But even if it doesn't turn out- I gave it a try! And who am I to keep something from even one person who finds inspiration in something I've created? Sometimes I write I post up & it sits there for a day...a week...a month. The more I blog, the more confidence I gain & now I take a breath & hit publish. Sharing ourselves and our talents, is I think what blogging is all about. It's an amazing virtual world where we can find inspiration, support, creativity, and friends similar to us.
